Custom Parts is where you can apply downforce to your vehicles. The total amount of downforce generally applied from part to part can be shown in the following image. All downforce adding parts will stack together and will also add on to the standard downforce numbers.
Type A and Type B parts are subjective to whether if downforce can be added. There are several cars where Type A and Type B parts are strictly cosmetic, similar to all Side parts.
For all Performance Point (PP) limits you want to add as much Front and Rear downforce as possible. A higher downforce range allows you to increase the PP ceiling before you reach the limit. The only part which will be dependant on the PP limit is the flat floor (Rear Type B). The flat floor has many advantages, however will increase PP significantly. More has been discussed in Custom Parts.
Generally for both 600PP Sport Tyres and 700PP Racing Tyres categories, apply all parts and custom parts that add downforce except the flat floor. Next step is to maximise the rear downforce. This will maximise rear traction, which will be vital in road cars when at speed. This will also reduce the pendulum effect which putting maximum ballast will give, further reducing PP allowing for more power upgrades. I would also maximise front downforce to a point where high speed corners, such as the last corner at Deep Forest Raceway can be easily taken flat out with minimal steering input.
